Abstract

The protection and sustainable use of natural resources is essential to ensure the ecological integrity of all living species. Essential oils are considered one of nature's oldest and most valuable natural resources. Hundreds of species of essential oils or essential oil blends have been used for healing purposes since ancient times and should not be ignored when considering how, how often and at what concentration to use them. The aim of this review is to examine the current data on the possible health risks of essential oils, which can be absorbed into the body by different methods and for different purposes and can reach all body tissues through the bloodstream.
